Confidence grows with Mitcham Means Business

When Bruce registered PAID in 2006 he had developed his business plan to “investment ready” stage and knew he might have difficulty in raising the necessary funds for his business to take off.

PAID itself is a social enterprise providing funding for people who are looking to raise small loans to start a business that have been turned down by conventional lending sources.

Bruce’s introduction to Mitcham Means Business followed in February 2007 and since then he has attended workshops, networking events and met with Jean Ottey, the locally based business adviser, participating in the intensive mentoring programme.

In his own words Bruce recommends the programme of support “I have learned to develop my ideas in a planned and chronological order, improving my organisational skills and business management. I will definitely keep coming to the events to build on the relationships I have made.”

Bruce’s long term goals are to open in an office location with an administrative assistant to support the business. In the interim he is balancing temporary work placements with promoting his business and accessing funding options.
